C. Sandy Lopez-Isnardi: Graphic Artist

Passersby Series 2018
These images are created with a simple iPhone panoramic feature while watching passersby. Distortion is created by the manner in which the iPhone’s rolling shutter records movement, creating a broken pattern of any shifting object that steps across the lens. This technique alters how the camera traditionally captures ‘reality’ with minimal post production processes. The abstractions represent the manner in which we live in the 21st century – multi tasking, splitting ourselves in various directions so that we may appear in one place, yet we are in no place – present to nothing, yet present to everything simultaneously. In some of the images the black spaces with distinct crude pixel edges creates a sense of ripping the fabric of time which adds to the sense of our disjointed relationship with time and space today.
